Clinton, originally from Johannesburg, lives in Stellenbosch. In high school he was a competitive swimmer, but as often happens burnt out and swore he would never swim again. During an adventurous phase he ended up breaking both feet and ankles (you will have to ask him for more details) and ended up back in the water for rehabilitation. It was here that his love of the water came bounding back. The pool became his avenue to the ocean, where his heart now resides – The natural beauty, the cold, the solitude, the flow, the challenge, the camaraderie and the community.
Some of Clinton’s thoughts on teaching: “ I want to facilitate the holistic growth of each swimmer as a well-rounded person and athlete; to cultivate the joy and lessen the fear of water; especially open water; to help each swimmer to understand that we are much more than we are led to believe or think we are capable of.”
Clinton’s aims are to be able to coach and relate to all age groups and levels, to be part of the growth in open water swimming, to improve athlete competency and competitiveness and also to enhance his own training, swimming and personality. He wants to be a valuable part of a professional, nurturing and dynamic team – as coaching staff as well as a club / academy.

Clinton brings a professional attitude, together with patience, empathy and understanding to Lifestyle Swimming Academy and our aspiring swimmers.

Clinton has:-
ASCA level 2 certificate
Swim South Africa LTS certificate
Level 2 WOWSA certificate
He coaches triathletes on a one on one technical as well as group squad training.
He also partakes in ice swimming – having just recently returned from an ice swim in Antarctica (1km in minus 1.4 degree water). He has also completed an ICE swim Lesotho at altitude and in Germany, as well as many open water swimming achievements (Straits of Gibraltar, Cape Point, a variety Robben Islands, Sterkfontein Dam and multiple mile, 3km, 5km and 10km swims around South Africa)

Kalib was a club swimmer for quite a few years until water polo became his passion. He represented the Eastern Cape for 5 years and competed throughout the country. He doesn’t play much polo at present and competes in various open water swims. He loves coaching kids and seeing them grow their potential. He specialises in Freestyle and Butterfly. He is a qualified Learn to Swim instructor and aspires to complete the SSA Level 1 Coaching qualification and further qualifications as they become available.
